Rev. Eric Bryant, Senior Pastor

Eric Bryant is a native of Louisville. He holds an undergraduate degree in Business Administration from McKendree College (1993), and Masters degrees both in Divinity and in Marriage & Family Therapy from Louisville Presbyterian Theological Seminary (1997). Eric has served congregations at Pleasure Ridge Park, Elizabethtown Memorial, Immanuel United Methodist Church and Grace Community Church. He is a hiking and fishing enthusiast and is passionate about running, having participated in two marathons. Eric and his wife, Kathy, have three children – Ashley, Jacob and Hannah.
 


Rev. Derek Robinette, Associate Pastor

Derek is a commissioned Elder in the United Methodist Church.  Prior to June of this year he served since 2003 at Centenary United Methodist Church in Shelbyville, Kentucky, as Director of Student Ministries.  During his tenure there he also headed up the Men's Ministry, Evangelism Team, College Ministry and Contemporary Worship Service.  Derek has his Bachelor's in Communications from the University of Kentucky and Masters in Divinity from Louisville Presbyterian Theological Seminary.  His family includes his wife Suzy, step-daughter Molly, and daughter Emily.  For fun Derek enjoys day trips with his family, golf, fishing, UK Sports and training for Triatholons.

 


  


Harrison Zoercher, Director of Christian Dischipleship & Missions

Harrison began his ministry at St. Matthews as organist in 1996. Following a lengthy career in the telecommunications industry, he became Communications Coordinator for the Kentucky Annual Conference of the United Methodist Church in 2002, and the Director of Communications and Emerging Ministries for SMUMC in 2004. Harrison has served on the United Methodist General Conference and Southeast Jurisdicational Conference Communications Teams, Kentucky Conference Board of Ordained Ministry, the Executive Committee of the Louisville Chapter of the American Guild of Organists, and the Board of Directors of Loucon Training & Retreat Center, Wesley House, and the Louisville Chrysalis Community.


   
Stephen (Steve) Lin, Director of Music Ministries

Steve is the son of a church musician and has taught high school choral music for Jefferson County Public Schools for 33 years: his choirs have presented concert tours in twenty different countries. He received his Bachelors of Music Education from Morehead State University, Masters of Education from the University of Louisville and was named the 2002 Kentucky Teacher of the Year. He is a member and has served as an officer with Kentucky Music Educators Association, Music Educators National Conference, Kentucky Choral Directors Association and the American Choral Directors Association. He has been married for over thirty years to Sharon and they have two children: Stephen and Brittany.
 
   

Kevin Husk, Director of Youth & Young Adults Ministries

Kevin grew up in Lewisport, KY. He received a Bachelor of Science degree from Kentucky Wesleyan College in Communications Arts with an emphasis in advertising and public relations. Kevin served as part-time Youth Pastor at his home church, Lewisport UMC, while going to college. Following college he served as Director of Youth Ministries at Resurrection UMC in east Louisville. He loves watching and playing sports, especially basketball and baseball. He rarely passes up a chance to go fishing and enjoys spending quality time with his family and friends. He and his wife, Kendra, have a daughter, Jacey, and a dog named Bella.
 
 


Troy Cooley, Administrator & Financial Secretarty

Troy came to us in February, 2011 as Interim Administrator and Financial Secretary, following his move to Louisville with his family Troy from Boise, Idaho.  He holds a bachelor’s degree from the University of Northern Iowa in Studio Art.  His creativity and strong sense of service have helped him enjoy working with others in a variety of capacities. 
He enjoys spending time outside, camping, running (he ran the Derby Festival Marathon on April 30), downhill skiing, whitewater rafting and kayaking, helping others and playing with his two children, Tepary and Omri.  His wife, Nikki, is pursuing a Masters of Divinity degree at Louisville Presbyterian Theological Seminary.

 

 

 


Kate Shafferman, Care Coordinator

Kate has been a member of St. Matthews since 1974, and coordinates ministries and services to members who are in need of assistance and comfort. She maintains relationships with members who are unable to participate in activities of the church. Kate also coordinates ministries for grieving families, and is the staff representative for the Family Ministries Committee.
 
 
 
Joy Smither, Nursery Coordinator

Over a thirty-eight year career in Early Childhood Education she has been a director at a for profit center, designed and developed a church sponsored non-profit center, both in Indiana. In addition, she directed a child development center sponsored by two major hospital corporations in downtown Louisville. Joy graduated with a degree in education from Indiana University. She and her husband, John, have three sons and six grandchildren.

   
 
Frank Krause, Sexton
 
As a member of the St. Matthews staff since 2000, Frank oversees the care and maintenance of the church’s physical plant and campus. His generous, cheerful spirit and his professionalism reflect his great care for the diverse congregation he serves. And he makes a terrific catfish dinner!
