Sunday School: Sundays 9:45-10:40 Age 2 thru 5th Grade
Children learn about the Bible in age-appropriate ways that are relevant to them such as: art, cooking, drama, games, music, movies, and science.
Wiggle Worship: Sundays 11:00-12:15 Age 3 thru 3rd Grade
Wiggle Worship is a worship service for kids. They do things that adults do upstairs such as singing, praying, reading scripture, and having an offering time. But they do it in a setting that allows them to wiggle. This also gives parents the opportunity to worship without the distraction of the wiggles going on in the pew next to them. Wiggle Worship uses puppets, video and lots of other fun ways to help children praise the Lord. When kids worship God, amazing things happen! Wiggle Worship is offered at 11:00 am on all Sundays except Communion Sunday (1st of the month).
Tween Ministry: Sundays 11:00-12:15 3rd, 4th, & 5th Grades
Tweens don’t fit with kids, but they don’t fit with teens either. That’s why we’ve created a ministry just for them! It’s designed to get them “Grappling” with questions such as Why Do My Parents Always Say No, What Would Jesus Play on His IPod, Why Can’t I Be an Only Child and Why Can’t I Go To PG-13 Movies? This fun, positive ministry is going to transform hearts and attitudes through Jesus Christ.
Nursery: Sundays 8:15—12:15, Wednesdays 6:00--9:00 pm, Ages Birth-2 years
Our freshly renovated nursery is not only beautiful, it is a fun, safe and secure environment for children. When parents check-in their children, they are given a pager so they can always be reached if their child needs them.
Children’s Choirs: Wednesdays Age 3 thru 5th Grade
Our children’s choirs learn about music theory, various instruments and how to lead worship through music. They sing in the 11:00 am worship service on the first Sunday of each month.
Puppet Ministry:
Puppets are such an exciting, interactive way to minister to children. We try to incorporate them into as many ministries as possible. They are a regular part of Wiggle Worship.
Children’s Library & Media Center:
The Library and Media Center is always open and offers a broad range of books and movies for all ages.
Special Events:
Children’s Ministry sponsors several special events throughout the year such as: Mardi Gras Family Night, Parents Night Out, Noel Nannies (Childcare for Christmas Shopping), and more! Watch www.stmatthewsmethodist.com for updates on the latest events.
Buddy Program:
We welcome children with special needs through our Buddy Program. Children with special needs are paired with an adult who knows their needs and how to make their experience fulfilling and safe. Buddies spend time in advance with children and their families in order to understand how best to relate to and care for each child as they participate in any of our ministries for children.
Newborn Ministry:
SMUMC ministers to families and new babies with visits, meals and handmade blankets. Our hope is that these families feel loved, supported and special to SMUMC during such a special time in their lives.
Children’s Ministry Team:
The Children’s Ministry Team plans, organizes and oversees all aspects of Children’s Ministry to ensure that each area remains focused on the overall vision and mission of the ministry. This team meets monthly.
