Opportunities to Serve

College age and 20 somethings want to be connected to others.  They want that feeling of belonging to something important and for far too long the “church” hasn’t met that need.  Here at St. Matthews UMC we’re all about building relationships!!  Relationships that are deep and meaningful.  We want our young adults to feel valued, cared for, supported and challenge to lead the way!!  If you enjoy getting to know people we have a spot for you!!  Whether it be through our Sunday School hour, College Age small group, outings, local missions, or mission trips, our young adults need relationships from within the church that go beyond the, “Hello, how are you?”

Provide Food  - The quickest way to a college age person’s heart is to give them food!!  With little to no income and always on the run, these young adults love to receive food!  Each week, the College Age small group meets over some food and could use your help!  Whether it’s helping often or once a year, this group would love to tell you how good of a cook you are.  Don’t have the time during the week to provide food for us?  Donations can go a long ways too!!

Support Missions – If you have a heart to see young adults in action, what better way to see that happen than too help make it happen.  You can help coordinate the mission opportunities, join us when we do missions, or make it possible for these young adults to take a mission trip by making donations.  Mission trips can get expensive when you start talking about being gone for a week or longer and you have to cover transportation, food, lodging, and supplies to do the work.

Become a Barnabas – If you enjoy building up college students and showing them your support then this is the place for you!!  As a college student, so much is changing and for you to be there supporting them, sending them cards and goodies would mean so much to a college student who at times feels alone and not supported enough!!
