SUNDAY SCHOOL AT ST. MATTHEWS encourages participants to grow in their faith in a community setting that is compassionate and caring. Studies are as diverse as the people in our classes who support lively discussion while sharing their Christian journey. We offer classes for children age 2 through Senior Adults. Feel free to visit as many classes as you wish in order to find the perfect fit for your needs.

Cornerstone Class  (Begins at 10:00 AM)

Leader:  Kate Shafferman, 897-6449 or 425-4531

Location:  Room 110

Mission:  A diverse group of individuals with a desire to discuss and share their relationship with God as it applies to contemporary lifestyles.  Taught by class members, studies vary from books of the Bible to Christian living.  The class is regularly involved in mission opportunities supporting community and Kentucky area ministries, and enjoys regular social events.

 

Covenant Class  (Begins at 10:00 AM)

Leader:  Allen Priest, 228-5054

Location:  Room 105

Mission:  The middle-aged members of the Covenant Class study a variety of spiritual and Biblical topics with open discussions.  Lessons are completed when everyone has contributed to the study material.  Members usually have monthly social gatherings.  New members are always welcome.  The class supports St. MAM, Breath of Life, Habitat for Humanity, local missions, and programs of St. Matthews United Methodist Church.

 

Fellowship Class  (Begins at 9:40 AM)

Location:  Room 102

Mission:  A class of older adults who enjoy teaching combined with a great sense of humor.  Lessons are focused on Bible study and how to apply the Scriptures to everyday living and those issues that impact older adults.

 

Keystone Class

Leader:  Del Fore, 244-8704

Location:  Room 202

Mission:  A class of older adults led by class members.  Keystone studies the International Adult Bible Study series and enjoys lively discussions regarding the lesson and the relevance of its teaching to our Christian walk.  There are many opportunities for mission involvement, as well as monthly fellowship events.

 

Questors Class

Leader:  Sandye Henry, 897-6449

Location:  Room 106

Mission:  Questors is a class of middle-age and older adults who share the teaching responsibilities in a lecture/discussion format following the International Adult Bible series.  There are regular social activities and participation in a wide range of outreach projects to the community.

 

Seekers Class

Leader:  Cammie Cox, 897-7268

Location:  Room 204

Mission:  We are Seekers because we are seeking the kingdom of God in our daily lives and how we can love God and our neighbors.  Our class ranges from about 30 to the mid-60’s and from single to married, divorced, widowed, and with or without children or grandchildren.  Study materials are from the Bible or current events.  Members take turns teaching the self-contained, stand-alone lessons.  Our emphasis is on caring for each other.  We welcome visitors, and there's no pressure to stay with the class if it’s not a good fit for you.

Canvas Community

Leader:  Pastor Derek

Location:  Gordon Hall

Mission:  An ongoing class for people who attend the Canvas Service.  This class meets immediately following the service and dives deeper into the current sermon series.  The class is made up of young adults through adults in their 50's.  We also have quarterly fellowship and mission opportunities.  Come have a cup of coffee and be a part of Canvas Community!
