Worship & Study at St. Matthews
AT THE HEART OF ANY FAITH COMMUNITY IS WORSHIP – the time when we come together as the body of Christ to honor and praise God. In worship we are reminded of our unifying diversity; that although we are different we are still one. Our worship experiences reflect this diversity in both traditional and non-traditional styles. Our hope is to assist every person in their desire to come into the presence of God. We often say that as followers of Jesus, we don't "Go" to church - we "Are" the church; this is very much the model for which we strive through our worship here at St. Matthews UMC.
The New Testament idea of church happens throughout your week and through relationships, fellowship, service and gatherings of smaller groups of community. But come Sunday, we gather to worship God together, as one voice, one body and one congregation seeking to encounter God's spirit. Whether you enjoy singing traditional hymns or more contemporary music, you'll experience a message of hope and love through our worship here at SMUMC and be challenged to live your faith out in real ways.
We pray that you'll join us for a Sunday service and come to know and love being part of the SMUMC.
Services are held weekly on Sunday mornings:
Traditional worship services are held in the main sanctuary
at 8:30 AM and 11:00 AM.
An alternative, more contemporary service ("Canvas")
is held in Gordon Hall at 11:00 AM.
Hispanic Worship Service - Tabernaculo de Avivamiento - Sunday evening
at 5:30 PM in Gordon Hall.
Bible & Small Group
To help people actively grow and mature in their discipleship, St. Matthews United Methodist Church continually offers an assortment of Bible and Small Group opportunities.
Sunday School at St. Matthews United Methodist Church encourages participants to grow in their faith in a community setting that is compassionate and caring. We believe that Sunday School improves your Bible knowledge, is an important part of spiritual growth, provides a place to belong and build relationships, and gives you opportunities to serve and minister.
Studies are as diverse as the people in our classes who support lively discussion while sharing their Christian journey. We offer classes for children age 2 through senior adults. Feel free to visit as many classes as you wish in order to find the perfect fit for you!
