Third Sunday of Easter

Blessed 05-04-25.jpg

Welcome to worship

at St. Matthews United Methodist Church!

This week we continue our message series on the Beatitudes. A Beatitude was a standard form of Jewish writing which Jesus used to express his point. The word "blessed" in these scriptures means more than “happy.”  It carries more of an idea that "It will go well with the one who . . .  for that one shall receive . . ."  Seen through this lens, the Beatitudes are a call to embrace qualities that will lead to blessedness and eternal life. So, what about this business of being meek?
